So, you’ve made up your mind, picked out the ring, and you’re ready to propose to the love of your life. Now comes the big question—how will you pop the question? Whether it’s at the end of a scenic hike, during a peaceful walk on the beach, or at a romantic picnic, I’ll be there to capture the moment.

How it works:

  1. Secure your dateBook your proposal session with a 50% deposit.

  2. Plan the details – We will schedule a phone call before or after booking to go over everything.

  3. Share the location – Send me the exact pin drop of where you’ll be getting down on one knee.

  4. Send a photo – I’ll need a picture of you and your fiancé(e), and I’ll send one of me so we can recognize each other at the location.

  5. Signal when you're ready – Take a quick selfie with your partner at the location—this will be my cue that it’s go time!

  6. Savor the moment – Stay down on one knee for as long as possible so I can capture every emotion from different angles.

  7. Celebrate with an engagement session – After the proposal, we’ll continue with a fun couple’s session in the same beautiful setting.

3 reasons to hire a photographer for your proposal

  1. Preserve the moment forever – The emotions will be high, and the adrenaline will be pumping. Before you know it, the moment will feel like a blur—unless someone is there to capture it all for you.

  2. Share the joy with family and friends – Your loved ones will want to imagine how it all happened, and what better way than through beautiful photos? Every mom would love the chance to visit this moment. You’ll receive a sneak peek within 48 hours so you can share the news right away.

  3. A keepsake for your future children – Some moments in life become part of your family’s story. One day, your children will ask about this moment, and with professional photos, you’ll be able to show them exactly how your love story unfolded.

And one bonus reason—your future wife will love you even more for being so thoughtful and intentional!

When you shouldn’t hire a photographer for your proposal

If your partner would truly love a private, intimate proposal without any witnesses, then having a photographer capturing the moment in a public place might not be the best fit. In this case, consider celebrating with a professional engagement session afterward to document your joy in a way that feels right for both of you.

Best proposal locations in Anacortes and Whidbey Island

  • Rosario Beach – One of the most iconic locations in the Pacific Northwest, offering dramatic coastal views and a stunning backdrop for your big moment.

  • Bowman Bay – A scenic spot with a breathtaking hike to the lighthouse, perfect for a proposal with an unforgettable view.

  • Ebey’s Landing – A peaceful walk along the cliffs overlooking the ocean, often with bald eagles soaring nearby—truly magical.

  • Mount Erie or Cap Sante – If you love sweeping mountain views, these overlooks provide a stunning, elevated backdrop for your proposal.

  • A place that’s meaningful to you – Whether it’s your favorite beach, a quiet forest trail, or the spot where you had your first date, the best location is the one that feels personal and special to both of you.

Final tips for a magical proposal

  • Plan something special – Make the moment even more unforgettable with a romantic picnic, a private musician, a weekend getaway, or a celebratory dinner.

  • Treat her to a manicure – She’ll want to show off that ring, and freshly done nails will make it even better. Just be sure to time it right so she doesn’t get suspicious!

  • Ditch the bulky backpack – Keep things sleek by tucking the ring box in your jacket pocket or even carrying the ring without the box to avoid giving it away.

  • Avoid the “hair curtain” – If your girlfriend has long hair, casually tuck it behind her ear before you drop to one knee so her beautiful face (and reaction) is fully visible.

  • Give subtle outfit hints – If she loves dressing up for photos, you might suggest a slightly nicer outfit than usual without giving away the surprise.

  • Bring a bottle of champagne - What fun opportunity to pop the bubbles! Feel free to coordinate with me and don’t carry them with you!

  • Keep your phone out of sight – Slip it into your back pocket instead of the front to avoid any awkward outlines in photos.

These little details will make your proposal even more magical—but don’t stress! The most important thing is to enjoy the moment and celebrate your love.
